School Digest

A personal tool by Ben Messinger

School Digest is a small program I wrote for my own family. Our daughter's school, the PTA, the district, and other parents send a lot of messages. Once a week, School Digest reads the school-related emails in my Gmail account, picks out what we need to do and know (deadlines, forms, events, schedule changes), and emails a short summary to me and my partner.

It is not a public service. Nobody else can sign up, and it only ever accesses my own Gmail account, with my permission.

What it does with Gmail

• Reads only messages from a fixed list of school senders (read-only access).

• Sends one summary email a week (and occasionally a short reminder) to our two family addresses.

• Never deletes, changes, labels, or replies to any email.

Details are in the privacy policy.
